Calculus: NOT Tha' Bomb.
Does this picture depict:
a. The way my Calculus II exam went this morning,
b. My overall performance in school this semester,
c. What my car looks like right now, or
d. All of the above.
The answer, my friends, is D. I have literally not been on my A-game lately with school. One could argue that this has been since I transferred to UH last semester. I have yet to do very well in a course there; granted, I've only taken two and one was pass-fail, but my performance has been less than stellar. I could note that I transferred in with a 4.0 and about 32 hours. Or that I work full time and have had a ton of things happening at work. But... the reality is that only one course I've taken counts toward my GPA, and it's a C+. Something's got to give, and I have to get my act together as of now.
After staying up almost all night several evenings this week to focus on Calculus, and a couple of late night tutoring sessions with my incredibly smart boyfriend, I still gave a dismal performance in the testing lab. I'm pretty sure the answers - which I thought I knew - sunk out of my head somewhere between the car and when I sat down to take the test. Not that I even deserved to do well; I've been focused on everything but this class since the beginning of the semester, and it finally caught up with me.
My only consolation is that the professor noted that if we have one bad exam at the end of the semster that is inconsistent the others, he will drop it and replace that grade (actually, our rank) with the performance from the final exam. As soon as I have a chance to talk with my Physics professor, I'm dropping my only other class. It's unfortunate, too, because I love Physics. I also feel like an idiot for taking only the Calculus II course. This is just going to have to be the semester that I finally devote myself to really, truly, understanding math.
Now doesn't that sound like fun?

School's tough, especially when you work and have any semblance of a social life. One class will always seems to take the back seat (for me that class is Government). Good luck with it.

I took engineering calculus at UT and made a D. Took business calc at Lamar and made an A. Took engineering calc again and made an A. Of course today I never use any of it. Just remember this equation:
lim Engr = Business
GPA -> 0
