Is Crystal Light alright?
If you're just now joining us, I have started a month long project that I'm calling Aquadan. In a nutshell, I'm only drinking water for a beverage between sunrise and sunset - similar to Ramadan. My food is still as it would usually be, consisting usually of a Slim-Fast shake for breakfast (easy, fast, nutritious) and sensible lunches and dinners.
I'm five days in, and my consumption of water seems to be decreasing. The first two days I did fine, reaching the recommended 64 ounces (8 - 8 oz. glasses) day. The problem the last several days has been that it's difficult to motivate myself to drink something with absolutely no flavor. It's like eating air for food, and having someone tell me "You can't see it or taste it, but you really are eating." Where's the fun?
I propose that I introduce some Crystal Light into my water. They make about a billion flavors of the stuff, so I wouldn't get bored, and in the end I'd probably drink more water. My justification for why this is acceptable is because the powdered mix is a solid, not a liquid. I'm not going to be drinking any more liquids, I will just be "eating" crystal light mix at the same time that I drink my water. Also, it has NO fat, NO sodium, NO carbs, NO sugar, and only 5 calories. There's nothing to it.
So, let's take a poll. By your comments, who thinks this is perfectly acceptable and who thinks it's cheating?

I say since you are inventing a new diet (something worth writing a book about (hint hint)) you are experimenting. You should take this time to find out what works for your. Listen to others and what works for them. Try some different stuff. Keep your true goal in mind and in your sights, but don't get bogged down on the wrong path to achieving it.
Have fun.

I'm sorry if I seem so insistent about this, but IT'S NOT A DIET!!!
Thanks for the encouragement. :)

Let me elaborate again on my reason for doing this. It was to see if I could follow through with something for a full month, inspired by the not-so-healthy Pepsi Spice Project. If I was on a diet, I would have stopped after three Christmas cookies this morning (one serving) and not have wolfed down half of the winter wonderland tin full of flour and sugar. I also wouldn't be so excited about all of the margaritas and chile con queso that I'll be eating at a bachelorette party tonight.
So I appreciate the encouragement for the book, but I don't think I've come up with any new diets. I'll have to write about something else to get my book deal.

Hi Cynthia,
I also dislike plain water. Too blah. When I was doing Weight Watchers years ago was told Crytal Light could be counted as water intake. I vote for Crystal Light.
p.s. Their lemonade flavored mix is good.

CHEATING!!!!
The dude hates PepsiSpice also, but he's sticking with it. Even when he made him sneeze.
If you can justify Crystal Light, you can also justify Diet Coke (non-calorie, etc.).
Crystal Light is packed full of chemicals just as diet coke.
And then how about the entire tea family? That's just a few simple herbs and leaves.
Lemon might be acceptable, but even that would be nudging at cheating.
