Pepsi Spice and Aquadan

I must thank Nora for turning me on to the craziest blog I've seen in a while, Pepsi Spice Project. This guy was bet a mere $1,000 that he couldn't drink Pepsi Holiday Spice (which they must not sell here, because I've never seen it) for the 45 days leading up to the holidays as his only source of liquid nourishment. I have laughed so hard reading this that I had trouble breathing, which says a lot for its comic potential. He's still eating as "normal," but is having some disastrous and embarrassing health effects from this experiment. He has bloody noses, the runs, and his girlfriend has left him. It's crazy what people will do for money - or rather, what people will do on a dare. He doesn't seem to really be hard up for the thousand bucks.

Reading this has inspired me to start my own modified version of a liquid intake project. Instead of Pepsi Spice or any other nastily carbonated garbage, I selected something far more tame on my inner parts: water. Some will say that this isn't going to make me puke or have the runs or anything that entertains people, so why do it? Because it may actually make me a bit healthier, that's why. For anyone who has seen any evidence of the constant Diet Coke IV drip that I'm currently on, it's still a huge change for me. Keep in mind I'll still be eating food like a normal person.

Of course, I don't really want to sacrifice everything for a month. In an effort to make this project more achievable, and to not deprive myself of the occasional glass of vino or lite beer with dinner, I'm only applying my water diet between sunrise and sunset, copying the Fast of Ramadan which my co-worker and friend Rula recently did. I will do this for one month, starting tomorrow morning: December 6th - January 6th. The name of my water-only-during-the-day-but-can-still-eat-food sacrifice? I'm calling it Aquadan.

  • I've threatened to follow this same exact diet. I would probably have to add coffee. Since I get to work before dawn, I bet I should chug a cup or three before the sun rose.

    Good luck.

  • Let me clarify something:

    THIS IS NOT A DIET!!!

If it were, I would be changing what I'm eating, or trying to lose weight. I'm not!

  • Milk. Wouldn't a nice cold glass of delicious, nutritous milk be good right now. Yummmmm.....I love milk.

  • Pepsi Spice is sold here. I don't think it comes in diet.

Last night I had a diet cherry vanilla dr pepper. Even with the cherry & vanilla flavor, it was still nasty. I love diet coke & diet pepsi, but hate diet dr pepper. Love real DP, though.

    Thank you all for caring.

  • Pepsi Spice is NASTY. Reminds me of a stale Jack and Coke, except with far less kick. Since my body cringes and weakens every time I even get a smell of whiskey, I only drink it when I need to empty my stomach....
