Late Night Studying

I actually posted the following on my online Macroeconomics class message board. When did I become so geeky?

When reviewing Chapter 2, the model used extensively throughout deals with a Pizza/Robot Economy. Did anyone else actually order pizza when reviewing this chapter? I did!

However, after three slices I felt very full. The marginal benefit of enjoying the pizza was usurped by the marginal cost of feeling full (and if I would eat too much, feeling sick). In the end, my total cost was less than the total benefit and I have 2/3rds of a pizza sitting in the fridge.

Tomorrow I will review Chapter 3. Good thing there are two cans of corn in the pantry!

Lesson: People who are hungry should neither grocery shop nor study Economics.

John Palmer should like this one.

  • So, You are saying that studying economics and eating are close complements??? Maybe, but there aren't all that many fat economists, especially in comparison with socionomologists.

What about studying economics and grocery shopping?

    You're right -- I love it.

  • Close complements, indeed. In fact, I will be so bold to say that studing Economics is not only correlated to poor nutrition choices; the textbook author's affinity for culinary examples makes studing economics the cause of my pizza binge!

As for grocery shopping, I was just pulling in the well-known axiom about not shopping while hungry in order to add credibility to my "study."

  • At least your supply met your demand. Now you can sell your excess surplus on the market at a discount. Unless you decide to have it for breakfast... mmm.. breakfast pizza. I'd try to make more witty economic remarks, but I took my college economics classes in high school, about 7 years ago (f**k im getting old). And I was surprised to see a post pop up on my feedreader Cynthia... its been almost two months *smack*
